We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Video Input to lead our video journalism efforts. In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing best practices for video footage collection, training our reporting teams, and ensuring the highest quality video content across all platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Refine Video Collection Guidelines:
- Create and maintain comprehensive guidelines for video footage collection tailored to the specific needs of City Reporters and Special Reporters.
- Ensure guidelines are clear, concise, and easily understood by all reporting teams.
- Lead Video Training & Development:
- Identify and address the training needs of reporters across all levels.
- Develop and deliver impactful training sessions on video journalism techniques, including mobile-based video capture, storytelling, and ethical considerations.
- Implement a continuous training program to ensure ongoing skill development and best practices.
- Oversee Daily Video Input Quality:
- Conduct daily reviews of video inputs, providing constructive and actionable feedback to reporters.
- Identify and share best practices and examples of high-quality video journalism.
- Work closely with reporters to improve their video skills and storytelling abilities.
- Drive Innovation in Video Technology:
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in video technology, including mobile-based video capture, editing tools, and distribution platforms.
- Explore and implement innovative technologies to enhance video production workflows and improve efficiency.
- Foster a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement within the video journalism team.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely with editorial, technology, and production teams to ensure seamless integration of video content across all platforms.
- Build strong relationships with reporters and foster a collaborative and supportive environment.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Experience: 7-8+ years of proven experience managing a video input desk or a similar role in a fast-paced news environment.
- Expertise: In-depth knowledge of video journalism principles, techniques, and best practices. Strong understanding of mobile-based video capture and editing.
- Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proven ability to build strong relationships with reporters and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Training & Development: Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering effective training programs.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with video editing software, camera equipment, and other relevant technologies.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and mentorship skills. Ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve high-quality results.
